O'Klein, Boris (1893-1985)
O'Klein sold a series of "Naughty Dog" and "Naughty Cat" hand-coloured etchings which were produced in France during the 1930's They typically featured dogs tormenting cats, or cats tormenting dogs, frequently either in sexually suggestive situations, or while they were trying to relieve themselves. Hence the terms "Naughty Dogs", "Naughty Cats", or more simply, "Bathroom Art". Some prints carry an "O'Klein" copyright, most are signed "O'Klein" (but usually in an illegible manner), and they are typically titled in French. Occasionally they still carry their original publisher's label on the back. A series of machine-produced O'Klein prints appeared in the 1970's and there are contemporary hand-coloured productions being reproduced today.
