Wagner, Alex (Quinn) (1925-2006)
A student of Merlyn Evans, Alex has been variously described as a surrealist,
impressionist and a symbolist, and was described by his tutor as
probably the most significant artist that South Africa has ever produced. Alex usually combined the human figure, animal and plant forms together.
Technically his works are perfection and conceptually revolutionary.
He exhibited widely in his younger years including in 1948 at the Tate in
London.
